This blog post is mostly in response to this.
I’ve noticed something recently. What I noticed was the lack of boycotts and protests from people about important things. There’s this huge uproar about a new show on Adult Swim called Black Jesus. Everything was quiet – considering – in the world of religion until Black Jesus aired yesterday. What’s sad is people don’t need the government to distract us from important things, all it takes is a show on Adult Swim called Black Jesus to do that.
Well here’s a list of things people [especially black people] should be pissy about!
Number 1: Churches
Need I say more? They’re tax exempt. Why do you think you see so many of them on one street in your neighborhood? A hole in the wall can become a church and all you need to do is buy the building and call it one. Then you sit and ask yourself how the pastor coming to church with a new car to match his new suit every day.
Number 2: Eric Garner
A lot of you may not have even heard of the guy and you’re probably asking yourself who the hell that is. It’s the guy that was killed when he was put in a chokehold. They guy was asthmatic and he died because of the NYPD. What makes this more terrifying is that this isn’t the first occurrence.
Number 3: Hollywood
White actors acting in ‘based on actual events’ when they should have been black or another race. Prime example: Exodus. Why are all the Egyptians white? If you’re going to boycott something, boycott movies like that. Boycott Hollywood. Boycott how the way Hollywood think Black people are. Don’t stop there, write up a petition for BET. Blacks and other races have been mocked, ridiculed and slandered all for a buck but you’re okay with that. All I’m saying is, Christian Bale is playing Moses.
Number 4: Infestation of Illiteracy
Guess how many students are actually getting a top quality education in their schools? How many are graduating? How many are even making it to school without seeing a crack-pipe or a hooker on the corner? How many are getting shot and killed by stray bullets? Where is the guidance, the education? It’s supposed to start at home. Why aren’t you boycotting your goddamned selves?
Number 5: Gun Law Policies
I see a lof of you crying that things are never going to change and people are just going to do what they want. Well, no one ever said things will get accomplished or pushed in the right direction while sitting on your ass. Why, oh why isn’t all these people complaining about gun law policies aren’t coming together and doing something about the gun law policies? You want change? You have to be willing to make that change!
Number 6: Low-income Housing & Other Programs
I’m sure the mass majority of America is on some kind of low-income support; especially housing. I’m sure it’s been made aware that their funding has been cut back exponentially; making it harder for those who have it and those who are trying to get it. They’re cutting back on SSI, cutting back on SNAP benefits, cutting back on so many programs that people are using to survive. For what? For fucking what? I’ll let you figure that one out for yourself.
Number 7: Employment
Believe it or not, it’s still the recession; it never left. Employment rates are still on the decline. I would say it’s more on the decline in the black community but I’m living some place where there’s nothing but factories hiring and the majority in this community that’s looking for work are blacks. Guess what they do when they get hired? Work for only 2-hours and go home. It’s on the decline because black people don’t want to work. Again, you should be boycotting your goddamned selves.
Number 8: Fewer and Fewer Black Owned Businesses
This all again dwindles down to being your own worst enemy. Again, there needs to be a stern wake up call in the black community. A boycott needs to be had on the black community.
Number 9: Yourselves!
Guess I’ll just make it clear just in case this gets skimmed through. Boycott yourselves. Boycott your lack of drive, your laziness, your nitpicking, cherry-picking, judgmental ways. Boycott your excuses. Boycott how you blame the white man for everything. Boycott yourselves.
Number 10: The Government
This shouldn’t have to be said. It shouldn’t. I shouldn’t have to explain either. Just a quick Google search can give you a clear idea why there are more important things to petition and boycott than some silly ass show on Adult Swim!
So let’s review:
Where were these protests and petitions when the show was on Youtube? It was a web show for years. Where is all this disdain coming from now? Four years and an announcement of the show coming to television and now you’re upset?
I also don’t recall anyone boycotting ‘The Passion of the Christ’ and Mel Gibson is white as they come. So, what’s the problem here? Where is the boycott for THAT SHIT? Seth McFarlane, Matt Stone and Trey Parker bash god, Jesus hindu religions, and everyone else under the sun. but Aaron Mcgruder does the same thing. now you black christians and the like want to cry foul?!
How come no one is boycotting Preachers of LA? What about that?
There’s all these new movies – ‘Son of God’ for example portraying god as blonde-haired and blue-eyed and no one is up in arms about that. Not a single one of you in the religious black community is up in arms about any of that shit. Soon as a black man is portrayed as Jesus, you’re ready to call the dogs. What kind of shit is that?
Why didn’t anyone boycott ‘The Boondocks‘? You’re worried about the portrayal of Jesus, what about the portrayal of black people? Because everything Aaron McGruder wrote for that show was true and you could relate. What exactly – if you actually watch the show – is different than that and The Boondocks? Oh, the Jesus part. Well, why wasn’t Moral Orel boycotted then?
Christians, you sure do know when to hold em’ and when to fold em’.
Just a note: Jesus – according to the bible – walked among hookers, house wives, criminals, scandalous men, warriors, and people who loved and hated god. Also, Jesus wasn’t white nor black. Where’s the petition for that?
