“God gave my son autism because I once had an abortion”

Toni Braxton had an abortion. She was taking a drug called Accutane. It’s anti-acne drug. It was usually used as a chemotherapy drug for brain and pancreatic cancers. The goal for Accutane as an acne drug was to shrink and eliminate sebum-producing cells in the skin. The chemicals in Accutane attacks rapidly reproducing cells like those of a developing fetus. Embryos exposed to the drug can have severe birth defects.

Everyone who “makes it” isn’t all that bright. Toni Braxton is one of those dull crayons in a box of 64. “God gave my son autism because I once had an abortion” is the most insulting sentence I’ve read in all of 2 days. She insulted women who had abortions and women who gave birth to autistic kids – as well as the kids themselves.

Technically, in a morbid unrealistic sense, she’s absolutely right. Her god – if it was real – did punish her for having an abortion, or eating pork, or wearing clothes of two different fabrics. See where I’m getting at? It could have been a plethora of things. While staying within her realm of logic, god is a petty, vindictive, childish, prick. Now, if I was her – which I’m glad I’m not – I wouldn’t worship an ass-wipe who gave my son autism. So in order to punish HER for something, her imaginary friend in the sky, who loves her, mind you, put lifelong suffering on someone else. Her child didn’t make her have the abortion, she got the abortion, so why isn’t god punishing her directly? Simple. He/She/It doesn’t exist.

It’s a cop-out excuse. She can’t deal with the fact her son has autism. She’s giving credit for an invisible man in the sky because she had a baby with autism. She’s also making it about herself. It’s like she believes the sun rises and sets on her ass. It doesn’t. How moronic and self-absorbed do you have to be to believe that god is that involved in your life?

If she had learned when she was young to be extremely careful about drugs when pregnant or when possibly becoming pregnant, and about the power of chemistry instead of some irrelevant passage from an old book the abortion would not have been necessary.

I’m not even going to talk about how she’s anti-vaccine because her son was given the MMR vaccine and that’s when she noticed the signs that her son had autism.

To say your is son an object used to punish you is fucked up. When you start publicly calling it a punishment from god, what does that say about how you feel about your kid and their condition? Her god of choice didn’t punish her with an autistic son because having an autistic son isn’t a punishment.

That’s my take on it.

  1. What a shame and disappointment on Toni Braxton’s part. By giving ‘god’ the mantle of retribution, she overlooks any reasonable option and realistic ways to work towards having a healthy child in the future…unbreak your retarded mind.

  2. It’s one thing to wonder about the stupidity of saying such a thing. It’s an altogether different kettle of accutane to ponder how many people she has helped to mislead. Gah!
